Amanda Hartzler Ferris
Senior Teacher
Amanda cultivates a daily yoga practice in the Ashtanga tradition and has done so, without interruption, since 1999. She has travelled to Mysore, India many times to deepen and support her practice. She is a Level 2 Ashtanga Yoga teacher authorised by Sharath Jois. Amanda teaches the primary and full intermediate series; she has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga for 2 decades.
Additionally, Amanda completed 500 hours of training with Yoga Arts Byron Bay in 2001 and is recognised by Yoga Australia as a senior teacher. Whilst her primary yoga practice and teaching is in the Ashtanga tradition, Amanda also uses yogasana for rest, restoration and therapy and occasionally shares this varied approach with yoga students.
A deep thinking, creative and articulate person, Amanda draws not only on many years of yoga practice and teaching experience, but also on her education and broad life experiences. Born and raised in the midwestern United States, she holds an undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College (New York, 1999). First arriving in Australia in 2001, Amanda is now a dual US/Australian citizen. Whilst teaching and practicing Ashtanga Yoga have been a primary focus in her life, she studied Landscape Architecture at a postgraduate level at the University of Melbourne, and is mother to a fast-growing teenager. She is also a Tea Master, certified by Australian Tea Masters in 2020.
Amanda lives in Melbourne’s Inner Northern suburbs and teaches in her home community. Both an active and reflective person, you’ll just as easily find her scaling walls at the bouldering gym as you will find her resting quietly, deep in thought. Amanda dabbles in the garden, reads and listens broadly, and feels life deeply as it unfolds.

Kate has made two trips to Mysore, India, where she practiced with Sharath Jois in 2012 and 2016. Outside of the yoga studio, Kate is the CEO of Griefline and mother to two pretty much grown children.

Sangeetha began practicing yoga whilst living in New York City in 2013. She eventually found Ashtanga yoga in Melbourne in 2017 and has made it a consistent practice ever since. She completed an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching (+350 hours) at Australian Yoga Academy in Melbourne in 2018, and in 2019 she started practicing with Amanda at Mysore Melbourne. She is currently training with Amanda as an apprentice teacher. During the daytime, Sangeetha acts as a Finance and Operations Manager for a French skincare company. But her true passion for movement keeps her alive and exploring, even outside of her Ashtanga yoga practice, where she trains in ballet, hand balancing, gymnastic strength and contortion.

Outside the yoga room, Dominik is a researcher at the Doherty Institute specialising in visualising and dissecting the immune response during viral infection using microscopy techniques.
